Pellet smoking is a method of barbecuing that utilizes the igniting of pellets and fans to distribute heat and infuses foods with flavors similar to an outdoor convection oven. We prefer our no-filler added pecan pellets to infuse our food with incredible flavor.
FAQs
GENERAL
Yes, absolutely! Our smoking pecan pellets can be used in a variety of grills and smokers.
Can I use pellets in a gas or charcoal grill?
We recommend adding pellet smoke into your gas or charcoal grills for great flavor! If using a charcoal grill, you may add pellets on top of hot charcoals to add a smokey flavor to your meats. If using a gas grill use a smoking pellet tube/box.
What makes Smokin' Pecan Pellets stand out above other pecan wood pellets and other hard wood pellet blends?
Smokin' Pecan Pellets are 100% pecan shells- no fillers, oils, binders and no hard woods! We process our pellets in small batch quantities to ensure top quality of all our pellets. Pecan shells burn slower and better than all hardwoods. We never destroy any trees that take many years to grow. We use every part of the pecan nut; never producing any excess waste making our pellets a sustainable and renewable source of energy. And the cherry on top is our pellets provide incredible flavor to the food you make!
Are there any woods or fillers in the pellets?
No, our pellets are always only made with pecan shells.
How are Smokin' Pecan Pellets flavored?
Our pellets are flavored by pecan trees! We never add any supplemental flavors because we don't need it.
What kinds of meats, seafoods or vegetables get the best flavor from Smokin' Pecan Pellets?
We may be biased, but we believe our pellets cook anything from a brisket to a smoked pizza, salmon to asparagus, wild game to marinated portobello mushrooms, and everything in between with superior taste! Be sure to snap a pic of your food and tag Smokin' Pecan!
What causes the difference in color between my Smokin' Pecan Pellets?
Mother Nature. There is such a wide variety of pecan trees, regions producing pecans and different growing practices that may cause the pellets to be different in color. Rest assured, the color of your pellets will never compromise flavor or affect the burn capacity. We also produce our pellets in small batches to ensure top quality, which may affect pellet color.
Fun Fact: There are over 500 different varieties of pecan trees!
What is the burn rate of Smokin' Pecan Pellets?
We estimate that our pellets burn at a rate of 0.5 lb per hour on a smoking or low heat setting (200-350°F) and 2.5 lbs per hour on higher temperatures (450°F or higher) on most pellet grills. Our pellets burn hotter and longer than most pellets on the market. Reference your pellet grill owner's manual for more information about your grill.
How often should I clean the burn pot?
Our pellets have a low ash content, but we still recommend you clean your burn pot after every 1-2 uses.
Do Smokin' Pecan Pellets contain gluten?
No, our pellets are naturally gluten-free and do not contain any wheat starches. Please consult with a healthcare professional before using our pellets.
Are Smokin' Pecan Pellets nut-free?
Although our pellets are intended for cooking purposes only, we recommend consulting a medical professional if you have nut allergies and are concerned about using our pellets.
Can I use Smokin' Pecan Pellets in a pellet stove or pellet heater?
Yes, the longer burn time will be great for a pellet heater, but we never recommend using heater pellets in your BBQ grills or any other method of cooking.
I am allergic to Pecans. Should I use your Pecan Shell Pellets?
Unfortunately, we are unable to answer your question at this time. Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend consulting an allergist or medical provider to determine your specific allergies. Our pellets are made from pecan shells, which come into contact with the pecan meat prior to being converted into pellets. The severity of your allergies may influence if you can/should use our product.

Where does the pecan shell come from?
Pecan trees are produced from South Carolina to Arizona and as far as Mexico, which gives us many options when sourcing pecans. Most of the shells used to make Smokin' Pecan Pellets come from our pecan shelling plant, less than one mile down the road from our pellet-making facility.
